We're havin a BOY!

It's official we are having a baby BOY!! As you can imagine Ben was extremely excited and very proud! I am excited as well, but I have to admit a little sad. I really wanted a girl and really thought it was a girl, but Heavenly Father has other plans. I'm just happy he is healthy and right on schedule. He is 13oz. right now and he moves all the time, especially when it's time for bed! The ultrasound was amazing. . . being able to see his heart and it's valves, all his fingers and toes and bones, and of course his little pee pee even though he's not even a pound yet!

Cute little profile

Proof he is a boy, his little peepee!

High five!

Another cute profile!

Baby Cake

Lindsay, my sister-in-law's family, has this tradition of doing a "Baby Cake" for pregnant couples before they find out the sex of their baby. They make a round cake that is half pink in color and half blue and then frost it so you don't know which half is what. Then they spin it around and the pregnant woman cuts a slice and if the slice she cuts is pink she is having a girl and if it's blue she is having a boy. They have been 100% accurate so far.
We did our "Baby Cake" tonight and I cut a PINK piece of cake! I was very excited, however Ben was not so much. . . . I think he even almost cried (out of disappointment). We will hopefully find out next week if the "Baby Cake" is right. I am hoping it is, but Ben is praying for us to break the 100% streak. We will let everyone know when we know.

The truth in Fortune Cookies

So I figured I should probably update our blog since our life has had some very dramatic changes in the last few months. First, I finally got a job as an RN! Yay!, finally starting my career. . . . But the downside to that is that we are no longer Californians. We are moving to Henderson, NV where we just bought our first home. We are super excited to get into our house, which will be next weekend! And the best news is that we are expecting our first baby!!! I am due in April and can not wait! Now all this great news can be blamed on Panda Express's fortune cookies. We got a fortune predicting something about great news in the future right before I found out I got the job and we got another fortune cookie stating there was news of a personal nature in our future and a few days later I found out I was pregnant! So be careful when you open those fortune cookies...they scare us to death now, cause I don't think we can take any more changes right now.

Why Skunks?

This was our wonderful weekend:
Saturday- Pleasant day until 9:30 at night . . . Ben lets Champ out the front door to do his business as usual, 5 minutes later Ben gets up to call Champ back in and begins yelling "NO CHAMP, NO, GET IN THE HOUSE!" Champ comes running AFTER being sprayed by the SKUNK he was following! Within seconds our house reeks of skunk, and it's not the skunk smell you smell when there is a dead one on the side of the road, it's stronger and burns and you think you are going to die! We immediately take him to the bath and hose him down because of course it's in his eye! And naturally the pet store is closed so we can't go get deskunking shampoo. Luckily, Toby got skunked a couple months ago, so my parents knew a home made shampoo to use. So after and hour and a half of bathing the dog, then showering ourselves and cleaning up, we lay down to go to bed. The smell is still so strong I have to leave and I go to my parents house to sleep (of course Ben can stand the smell and passed out! Men!) I get to my parents and still smell SKUNK. So I take another shower, change my clothes and finally get a little sleep, however I still get a hint of skunk smell now and then. I realize I didn't wear gloves while bathing the dog and my hands smell like skunk!

Sunday- So now it is time for church. I am just excited to get out of the SKUNKED house. We sit down in Sacrament, and smell skunk! We sniff each other (the people behind us thinking who knows what!!) Of course my hair has soaked up the smell! So I leave after sacrament to get the deskunking shampoo/cleaner for the dog, but poor Ben has to stay and teach primary!
We finally get home from church and spend the day washing and cleaning everything!!! We had to take down all of the curtains and wash them, wash all the clothes and blankets left out, wash our bedding and the dogs bedding! All of the windows are open and fans are blowing. . . And our house still smells like skunk with cleaner and candle smell trying to cover it!

So after this wonderful weekend of ours, I have some questions. First of all why does it not smell like skunk outside where the skunk sprayed and only smells in the house??? Second question, what are skunks good for? I mean seriously why do we have skunks????

In case anyone gets to share this wonderful experience with us:
Home shampoo for skunked dogs: 1 quart Hydrogen peroxide, 1/2 cup baking soda and some dish soap.
Store bought product: Natures Miracle deskunking shampoo
To take away some of the smell in the house and mask it for a couple hours: Spread ground cinnamon on a baking sheet and bake at 250 degrees for and hour.

Oh and a nice little side note here, the lady at the pet store said that if they get sprayed in the nose that, everytime the dogs nose gets wet you will smell the skunk smell. OF COURSE Champ got sprayed right in the face. . . in the nose! So we will be getting little reminders about this experience for months to come! Yay!

Time with Aaron and Lindsay

Look at how good I am . . . 2 posts in one day! So Aaron and Lindsey were here at the beginning of the month and while they were here we went to Angel Island and to see the Big Trees at Calavera's.
If you ever wondered what was on Angel Island let me tell you. . . Not much! If you go, make sure you where walking/hiking shoes or bring your bike and bring a lunch!!!! Even if there isn't much to do, there is a great view of the city and the Golden Gate Bridge!

Calavera's was lots of fun. It was a beautiful sunny day and there was still lot's of snow on the ground, which I wasn't prepared for (shoe's wise). I fell a few times and almost fell a lot of times!

Very Naughty Dog!

Everyone blogs about their children. Well, we don't have any yet, but we do have a dog. Champ goes on a walk or run just about everyday. If he doesn't get his walk or run he gets very grumpy and depressed. Well, it was a rainy day and I was not about to go running in the cold rain, so I took Champ on a ride with me to the store so he could at least get out of the house. When we get back home he refused to get out of the car! He just sat there and I could imagine him thinking "I am not moving until I get my walk!!!" Very naughty Dog!!
